Some Ancient technology requires the user to posess a particular Ancient gene which, although rare, is present in some humans - one in 16,000, to be exact. Since arriving in Atlantis, a process of gene therapy has been devised to artificially deliver the ATA gene to those in which it does not occur naturally. However, the gene therapy has thus far only been successful in 48% of recipients.
