This page is a database of all of the worlds visited by Atlantis teams, both those shown in the series and those original creations explored within this game. Spoiler warning for all of the first season and parts of the second - up to and including Trinity.
Athos - Homeworld of the Athosians, a small agrarian population routinely subject to Wraith cullings. Not far from the village is an ancient city which displays a level of advancement far above that of the nomadic Athosians. Several kilometres from the village lies a hidden chamber, where the Athosian Teyla believes her ancestors once hid from Wraith cullings. The people have recently been evacuated to Atlantis; however, differences between these and the humans from Earth have led to their being resettled on the planet's expansive mainland. They are still in regular contact with the city. (Episode reference: Rising)
"Atlantica" - See Lantia.
Belka - A planet with which Atlantis has established trade relations. Largely low-tech. (Episode reference: Trinity)
Dagan - The Ancients entrusted the people of this planet with a ZPM many years ago, telling them to protect it at all costs. Known to the Daganians as the Potentia, it was originally guarded by a brotherhood of fifteen monks, known as the Quindosim, in the hopes that when the Ancients did return to reclaim it, they would receive a great reward. When threatened by Wraith cullings, the Quindosim hid the Potentia beneath a myriad of clues, puzzles and booby traps, to be discovered over ten thousand years later by Major Sheppard's team. Unfortunately, the victory of this finding was short-lived, as the team was forced to give it up to the Daganians, who had - it was revealed - formed a new Brotherhood to complete the task begun by the fifteen so long ago. The ZPM would remain hidden by the Daganians until the Ancients themselves returned to reclaim it. (Episode reference: The Brotherhood)
"The Defiant One" Planet - Name unknown, featured in the episode "The Defiant One". This desert planet is no ideal vacation spot, with long scorching hot days and frosty nights. The planet - which is situated in the same solar system as "Atlantica" - is not accessible by Stargate, but may be reached by Puddle Jumper in approximately nine hours. An Ancient weapons platform was previously in orbit around this planet, defunct until recently when it was employed in a last-ditch effort to defend Atlantis against the attacking Wraith armada. It destroyed one hive ship before being blown apart by the two remaining vessels. (Episode reference: The Defiant One, The Siege Part I)
Dolce far Niente - The planet of Dolce far Niente (which translated to Earth terms is Italian for delightful idleness) is a small planet often overlooked due to the four large moons that orbit it. Read more. (RPG)
Falmera - This planet is like many other habitable worlds; the main difference being the noticeable amount of asteroids in its orbit. Falling stars are not an uncommon sight in the night sky. Cities of stone house the preindustrial population, who are governed by a mysterious figure known as the "Ancient One". More accurately identified as the Wraith Trent Silverleaf, he escaped to this world after his ship was shot down by the Ancients and, with no way of contacting his brethren, has established himself as a benevolent human ruler, feeding in secret on human prisoners. On recommendation from Charlie Team, the world was locked out of Atlantis's dialing computers. (RPG)
Genii Homeworld - The Genii appear as a simple, agrarian society; however, this is a mere front to hide their true level of advancement from the Wraith. The true extent of their resources is hidden in underground facilities. The Genii are hell-bent on destroying the Wraith, and will employ any tactics to bring them closer to their goal. These differing views have created a rift between Genii and Earthlings in what initially looked to become a comfortable trade alliance, and has resulted in their enmity. The Genii homeworld was decimated on the surface in the most recent Wraith culling (The Siege, Part II); it is only as a result of their underground bunkers that the race has prevailed. The Genii have spies scattered throughout the galaxy who may take refuge in safe houses located on various planets. (Episode reference: Underground, various)
Hoff - For centuries, the Hoffans have been searching for an advantage over the Wraith, and finally their efforts seemed to bear some fruit. As the scientists of Hoff grew close to a breakthrough with a drug designed to bring immunity to the Wraith's life-sucking ability, Dr. Beckett lent his superior expertise to make that dream a reality. With a solution in their grasp, the over-eager Hoffans ignored the warnings from Atlantis and began administering the drug to their people, only to find that along with providing immunity - and death to the attacking Wraith - the side-effects would kill 50% of those immunised. However, a vote among the people gave overwhelming support to the continued distribution of the drug. No contact with Hoff has been recorded since. (Episode reference: Poisoning the Well)
Iseria - A desolate world pocked by active volanoes which dominate the ash-choked skyline of the planet. The Stargate is slightly crooked from the disturbances of long-ago earthquakes, the otherwise none the worse for wear. The sole point of interest, looking out from the 'Gate across the gritty black sands, is an ancient city marked by twin ivory towers. This city houses a single resident, Kyshiro, the last survivor of a race long forgotten. (RPG)
Lamorak - Lamorak is an enormous planet (for its population, compared to others, it's rather small), really, most of it grassy green, flatland. The forest areas are mainly on hills, though these are all fairly moderate climbs. Read more. (RPG)
Lantia - This being Ancients' name for the roughly Earth-sized world [confirmed by show writers], though Lt. Ford has a suggestion or two of his own, chiefly "Atlantica". (Lt. Ford isn't allowed to name things any more.) A large portion of the planet's surface is water, and the Ancient city of Atlantis - now the human expedition's base of operations - sits as an island amidst the great ocean. (For more information, see Atlantis Fact File.) The mainland, reachable by Jumper in under half an hour, stretches for about fifteen million square miles. Recently, it has become home to the Athosian refugees. (Various episodes)
M1K-349 - Alpha Site candidate, seen as a viable option. According to Sheppard's description, it's "the one with all the waterfalls". Accordingly, Ford - who's apparently less than impressed by their system of classifying planets - suggested it be dubbed Planet Waterfall. (Episode reference: The Siege, Part I)
M1M-318 - Alpha Site candidate, seen as a viable option as it has lush surroundings and was apparently uninhabited. However, upon exploration, Sheppard's team found themselves set upon by an creature described as similar to a T-Rex. This discovery reduced the planet's viability somewhat. (Episode reference: The Siege, Part I)
M2K-541 - It was from this world that Bravo Team retrieved an alien device, which was compared by Dr. O'Connor in appearance to "one of those funky sets of wind chimes" (those made out of old, artistically bent pieces of cutlery). After the device was brought into Atlantis, personnel began unexplainedly to burst into musical numbers. (RPG)
M3C-549 - The planet theorised by Dr. O'Connor to be the location of Manoa, an Ancient outpost or city which formed the basis of Earth's "city of gold" legends - El Dorado. (RPG)
M4H-212 - Alpha Site candidate, rejected as it is reportedly "crawling with Genii spies". Bates confirms this to be fact. (Episode reference: The Siege, Part I)
M4X-377 - A barren wasteland, it was used to dispose of a dark entity accidentally released from its containment vessel into Atlantis. The planet is now locked from Atlantis's dialling computers. (Episode reference: Hide and Seek)
M5F-452 - An uninhabited world, with rocky terrain and lightly forested surroundings. It was considered a planet of interest due to the strange energy readings originating from some nearby ruins, which show similarities with the structure of a medieval castle. (RPG)
M5S-224 - Inhabited by sentient non-corporeal beings which unwittingly provide huge amounts of power to the local Stargate - such as would be required to establish a wormhole connection with Earth - but at the cost of many lives. This was discovered by Sheppard's team (accompanied by Weir) during an attempt to dial Earth and, subsequently, an agreement was forged with the beings: They would return to Atlantis on the condition of never dialling the world again. Accordingly, it has been locked from the city's dialling computers. (Episode reference: Home)
M7G-677 - This world's youthful dwellers are protected from Wraith attack by a strong electromagnetic shield powered by a ZPM. Until recently, they were unaware of this protection, believing that their suicide pact - a custom that ensured nobody would live a day over 25 - diminished their worth to the Wraith. This is believed to have originated as a device for population control as the shield covers only a limited area of the planet. The arrival of Sheppard's team brought the EM shield to the villagers' awareness, and since then the suicide pact has been abolished. (Episode reference: Childhood's End)
M85-393 - Alpha Site candidate, rejected due to extremes in temperature. (Episode reference: The Siege, Part I)
MX8-316 - Vegetation samples brought back from this planet by Charlie Team show phenomenally high nutrient levels, although team biologist 2nd Lt. Wallace also cautions that the cows who reportedly fed on these plants happened to be purple. (RPG)
Menara - Trading partners with Atlantis, the Menarians are also affiliated with the Genii - whom they call upon when pushed to take in the Earthling and Athosian population for several nights while a massive tropical storm raged around Atlantis. Their leader, known as Smeadon, aided the Genii in obtaining a GDO and a valid code, allowing them to infiltrate the city. Current relations with this planet are understandably frosty. (Episode reference: Suspicion, The Storm)
Nevara - A pretechnological paradise inhabited by a peaceful, curiously youthful folk who call themselves Nevarians. The people dwell in villages which are scattered across the planet. The elders tend to live apart from these settlements in a larger establishment, following the belief that the Wraith will be more likely to strike in more densely inhabited areas and in grouping the old together, the young will not face so high a risk of being culled. The Nevarians' slow aging is the result of a disease, known to the people simply as the Illness. The Nevarians have long since devised a treatment made from a combination of two plants not native to their world, requiring them to trade with other planets - chiefly, up until recently, with the inhabitants of Athos. Since the Athosians were evacuated from their homeworld, trade between the two cultures has ceased and the Nevarians' supply of the treatment has grown low, bringing up grave fears for the people's continued survival. (RPG)
Olesia - The people of this world have managed to live in relative peace and obtain a comfortable level of technological advancement through an arrangement with a lone Wraith, in which the Wraith agreed not to disturb the Olesians so long as he was always provided with a food source. This was managed by converting the island on which the planet's Stargate was situated into a penal colony, where violent criminals became Wraithbait. This agreement worked comfortably for hundreds of years until the awakening of the Wraith colony, placing the Olesian government under further pressure and leading it to convict innocent citizens on false charged in order to protect the wider population. The situation became dire when Colonel Sheppard's team, trapped on the island, led the prisoners through the Stargate to their freedom. When the Wraith arrived, finding the island deserted, they turned their culling beams on the Olesian cities. No further contact has been established. (Episode reference: Condemned)
P3M-736 - The planet on which Ronon Dex was encountered and the last known location of Lt. Aiden Ford. Ford was last seen jumping into the line of a culling beam on this world. (Episode reference: The Siege, Part III)
Proculus - This planet is a paradise left untouched by the Wraith due to its Ancient benefactor, who lives under the identity of High Priestess Chaya Sar. Chaya was cast out from the ranks of the Ascended after interfering with a Wraith invasion of Proculus in violation of her people's laws. In punishment, she was condemned to guard the planet forever. The unfortunate catch is that this protection falls only over the born inhabitants of Proculus, upsetting Atlantis's original hopes of being able to settle refugees where they could live without fear of the Wraith. The people of Proculus are a simple folk, living peaceful lives in the worship of their benevolent goddess Athar. They are long-lived and enjoy perfect health. Proculus is accessible only by Puddle Jumper, as its Stargate is in orbit around the planet. (Episode reference: Sanctuary)
Sateda - The home planet of Ronon Dex. The inhabitants had grown technologically advanced and were largely wiped out in a resulting wide-spread Wraith culling. Some managed to escape and took refuge on planets such as Belka. (Episode reference: Runner, various)
Zalpa - Home to the humanoid Zalpians, an advanced race of beings who are able to integrate their own bodies with technology in order to enhance their functioning. Slight variations in Zalpian physiology marks each from birth as either a ground-based or airborne worker, skeletal and muscular differences which exist in preparation for the child's "coming of age", upon which the Zalpian is fitted with the addition of either an extra pair of arms or a pair of wings. Zalpa is the home world of General Aleniel Lenstanine, who commands the combined ground-based and airborne armies. (RPG)
